Richard Evans & Associates is a boutique style law firm which was founded in 2006 by Richard Evans. Since 2006, Richard Evans has been joined in partnership by Jennifer Afton Sharp and Matthew Hill Bremner, themselves specialists in the firm’s property law niche.

Partners

Attorney & Founding Partner

Richard has over 40 years of experience in town planning and environmental law and has represented numerous property developers, private individuals and municipalities. He has served on specialist town planning panels to have new planning legislation introduced, provided specialist input for the adoption of new town planning schemes and presently serves as the Expert Technical Advisor on the Appeal Authority of a large municipality on the South Coast.

Attorney, Notary, Conveyancer & Partner

Jennifer joined Richard Evans & Associates in 2011 to grow the firm’s conveyancing and notarial practice and was made a Partner of the firm in March 2016. Jennifer heads up the firm’s conveyancing department and is assisted by Michelle du Toit, a specialist conveyancing paralegal. Jennifer specialises in the transfer of residential, sectional title and commercial properties, as well as subdivisions, consolidations, township establishment, developments and the registration and extension of sectional title schemes.

Attorney & Partner

Matthew joined Richard Evans & Associates in  2018 and was made a partner of the firm in  2019. Matthew is head of the firm’s litigation department and his practice predominantly deals with issues relating to property, town planning, construction, environmental and petroleum licencing law. Matthew has represented clients in various forums and regularly appears in Municipal Planning and Appeal Tribunals as well as the High Court of South Africa.

Team

Senior Paralegal

Michelle joined the firm shortly after it was founded in 2006. Michelle works in the firm’s conveyancing department and assists Jennifer in all aspects of the firm’s conveyancing, sectional title, estate and notarial practice. Michelle is a qualified paralegal and is currently studying towards her Bachelor of Laws.

Bookkeeper

Nina has been with the firm since its inception. She is the firm’s bookkeeper and handles all of the firm’s administrative responsibilities.

Receptionist

Nicole is the “front-face” and client liaison of the firm. Nicole is also a qualified paralegal and provides administrative support to the partners of the firm.
